Xerox DocuMate 3115 Receives PC Magazine Editors’ Choice Award and “Highly Recommended” Rating from BLI

PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) today announced the XeroxDocuMate® 3115 is the recipient of two awards from PCMag.com and Buyer’s Laboratory, Inc. (BLI).

According to the PCMag.com review, published on May 4, 2011, “the DocuMate 3115 is easy to recommend as Editors' Choice. It offers a combination of hardware and software that leaves some more expensive personal desktop scanners in the dust. And that's even before you add in any extra points you might give it if you want to take advantage of its portability even occasionally.”

PCMag.com also scored the DocuMate 3115 high on OCR accuracy and the editor emphasized that it recognized fonts at 10 point without a mistake. “It even did well as a business-card scanner, recognizing and parsing the data from more than half the cards in our test set without a mistake, and making only one or two mistakes each on all but one of the rest.”

Xerox DocuMate 3115 Dials Up the Ease of Use
Winner of an “Outstanding Achievement” award for “Outstanding Control Panel Design,” the BLI review noted that the Xerox DocuMate 3115 “offers users the ability to choose from up to six one-touch scan profiles by turning a dial on the control panel to the desired number. Most others tested either offer a generic Scan hard key, or nothing at all, forcing users to make selections from the driver. Eliminating that extra step provides DocuMate 3115 users with more flexibility.”

HP Puts Data Storage on a Diet, Guarantees Capacity Reduction

HP today announced the HP Get Thin Guarantee Program,(1) which enables clients to reduce storage capacity requirements by 50 percent or more when they replace legacy equipment with HP 3PAR Utility Storage.

Part of the HP Converged Infrastructure portfolio, HP 3PAR Storage Systems offer a silicon-based thin processing mechanism as part of the system’s highly specialized hardware design. When combined with HP 3PAR Thin Conversion Software, this mechanism drives the rapid “thinning” of storage volumes by identifying and removing unused pockets of disk capacity.

As a result, traditional storage volumes are reduced by 50 percent or more and converted into thin provisioned volumes on the HP 3PAR array. This enables clients to reduce storage footprint and power consumption while also cutting storage administration time by as much as 90 percent.(2)

As part of the guarantee, any participants in the program who do not realize 50 percent or more reduction in storage capacity requirements will receive additional disk capacity and related software, as well as support related to the additional disk capacity and software from HP equal to the difference.(1)

Xerox Keeps Every Day Color Costs in Check with Newest Solid Ink Multifunction Printers

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The innovative technology inside Xerox Corporation's (NYSE: XRX) first high-speed solid ink multifunction printers (MFPs) gave thousands of businesses around the world a hassle-free, low-cost way to print in color every day. Three new MFPs built on the award-winning ColorQube® platform save customers money with faster print speeds and simple-to-use features that make work easier.

Companies can cut color print costs in half with the Hybrid Color Pricing Plans available on the Xerox ColorQube 9300 Series – paying only for the amount of color on a given page. This is an important differentiation when using just a little bit of color, such as a company logo on letterhead.

“The Xerox ColorQube 9200 Series broke new ground in office color printing by turning the cost equation on its head.  It gave companies an affordable way to use color every day – something they have requested for years,” said Robert Palmer, director, InfoTrends Digital Peripherals Consulting Service.  “The new Xerox ColorQube MFPs deliver the cost savings businesses have come to expect from solid ink technology.”
